YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD GIVES ME THE CREEPS!

Hi! I'm Adam. My new book, YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD GIVES ME THE CREEPS: TRUE TALES OF AN ACCIDENTAL GHOST HUNTER is now available from Llewellyn Press.

In addition to a behind-the-scenes look at life in the ghost hunting business (where I've worked as an investigator and Chicago ghost tour guide for years), the book talks extensively about famously haunted locations, including The Congress Hotel, Odin Tattoo (now re-named Old Town Tatu), Bachelor's Grove Cemetery, Hull House, and more. Several of these are being featured on The Discovery Channel this Fall.

My aim with this book was to write the least new-agey, most down-to-Earth book on ghosts and ghost hunting ever written - without coming off as one of those smug, unpleasant skeptics. I believe that there's a scientific explanation for everything (except for maybe Bob Dylan), but that doesn't mean I don't believe in ghosts. I've seen women in black dresses float across empty streets and vanish. I've heard gunshots go off in abandoned hallways. I've heard voices that shouldn't be there, and seen shadows that shouldn't be there, either. What causes these things? Is it dead people floating around, some sort of scientific thing we haven't figured out yet, just my imagination, or something else altogether?

I left Weird Chicago in 2009. I now run the Chicago Unbelieveable blog and run tours for Chicago Hauntings.

The haunted tattoo shop featured prominently in the book was featured on The Travel Channel and Discovery Channel this October, and some new information was dug up - see reactions on the Weird Chicago blog (Now known as the Chicago Unbelievable blog)
